Researcher in the Technologies of Vision research Unit

The successful candidate will conduct research and development activities in the context of Visual Scene Understanding, focusing primarily on image and multi-sensor processing enabling Augmented and Mixed Reality. Research activities develop around detection and tracking, registration, mapping and 3D modeling, with the aid of context and complementary sensing when available. As part of such activities, the candidate will also realize the design, implementation, optimization of state-of-the-art and novel algorithms for mobile platform. The candidate is expected to work in collaboration with other researchers of the Unit and the Center, as well as with external partners through research and industrial research projects. In particular the successful candidate is expected to actively participate to the EU-H2020 project REPLICATE, Jan 2016 – Dec 2018, (http://www.3dharvest.com/Replicate). Required skills: Master Degree in Computer Science Engineering, Computer Science or related fields; Relevant experience (at least 3 years) in the field of Image Analysis and Computer Vision; Solid background in image analysis and pattern recognition; Skills in design and implementation of hardware-software system; Knowledge of existing tools and libraries for: computer vision and image analysis, computer graphics, database management, GUI development; Competences in GPU programming; Deep knowledge of GNU-Linux, Windows, Android and iOS operating systems, and C/C++, Java, HTML, JavaScript programming languages; Ability to work and deliver in funded research projects; Oral and written proficiency in English. Preferred skills: Ability to design and develop image analysis libraries; Knowledge of multi-platform software development frameworks  for mobile applications, both server (e.g. LAMP, MEAN,…) and client side (e.g. PhoneGap, Xamarin, Appcelerator Titanium,…); PhD related to the topics of this call and the activities of TeV research unit; Experience in leading technology transfer projects; Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong commitment to achieve assigned objectives and to realize practical applications; Soft skill (communication, teambuilding, problem solving, etc.); Contract Duration:  3 years, initially, renewable.
