The successful candidate will work in the framework of the new project “Privacy-Aware Cyber-Security” (PACS). The project aims to evaluate methods for understanding the trade-off between privacy and cyber-security, and to propose solutions for balancing them. Specifically, the project will study how personal data stores can be used to process cyber behavior. Specifically, PACS will evaluate how these solutions impact users’ privacy, the security of the system, and users’ perceptions and behaviors. The project involves also the EveryWare lab (Prof. Claudio Bettini) at the University of Milan and the Big Data (Prof. Erez Shmueli) and the iWit (Prof. Eran Toch) labs at the Tel-Aviv University. From a scientific point of view, the activities will focus on: Designing and performing the user studies: the goal is to understand whether the desired privacy level of the user is compliant with the requirements of the security mechanisms, and thus to understand whether it is possible to find a trade-off between privacy and security; Analyzing the collected data with respect to the designed questions and measures, and then report on the findings. From a managerial point of view, the activities will include: Participation to the management of the research project (participation to the scientific management, coordination of activities, cooperation with other partners, periodic reporting); Set-up and negotiation of new project proposals; Co-supervision of MA students involved in the project. Job requirements: Master degree in computer science, information and communication technology, mathematics, physics, economics, social science; Experience in at least one of the following areas: Human Behavior Understanding, Privacy, Behavioral Decision Research, Machine Learning; Good knowledge of statistical and mathematical software (R, Matlab, SPSS, etc.); Oral and written proficiency in English; Good ability in collaborating with other researchers and students in the delivery of work (motivating people, co-supervising and monitoring performance against deadlines); Communication skills (presenting, persuading and influencing); Organizational skills including planning, scheduling and reporting (also under pressure). Additional requirements: PHD degree in in computer science, information and communication technology, behavioral economics; Good record of high-level scientific publications in journals and conferences; Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with project partners; Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work effectively in team, as well as independently; Commitment to rigorous scientific research; Programming skills (Python, Java, etc.); Availability to supervise students and internships.
