FBK-IRVAPP is looking for a Junior Researcher in the field of impact evaluation of education policies and analysis of inequalities in educational opportunities. The candidate is expected to: Write journal articles, conference papers, and research reports, presenting them at the relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Contribute to research fund raising activities and preparation of bids for competitive national and international calls. Work closely with the Director assisting him/her and other IRVAPP senior researchers in specific projects. Required: University degree (MA or equivalent) in social sciences (Economics, Political Sciences, Sociology and Statistics) and PhD in Sociology. Substantial experience in applying quantitative research methods. Well established knowledge of statistical modelling and methods for the evaluation of public policies. Advanced working knowledge of Stata and other statistical packages for quantitative analysis such as R, SAS, or SPSS. Experience in research funding activities. Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills (also under pressure). Oral and written proficiency in English and Italian. Preferred: Interest and experience in the evaluation of education policies. Interest and experience in the analysis of inequalities in educational opportunities associated with individual social origins, ethnicity, and gender. Good understanding of methodological issues related to policy impact evaluation and multivariate analysis of large micro-data sets. Good knowledge of the main topics of the sociology of education, education policies adopted by advanced societies and promoted by international organizations, along with their evaluation. Experience in organizing academic workshops or similar events. Good computer programming skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively both in teams and independently. Employment: The maximum duration of the Tenure Track contract is 3 years (which may be reduced depending on the assessment by the Committee of the candidate’s capacities and skills). If the final assessment of the Tenure Track experience is positive, the selected candidate for the tenure track position will be offered a permanent R3 contract.
