The MPBA research unit invites applications for a data scientist with strong software development skills to support research activities in the field of predictive analytics. The successful candidate is expected to have proven experience in developing software prototypes for the analysis of high dimensional data. The job will require a continuous interaction with collaborators, in order to identify the best web based data analytics solutions, including adapting different algorithms from other fields and integrate them in efficient frameworks for big data, with a focus on open source environments. The successful candidate is expected to collaborate at the design and implementation of complex user interfaces to novel data analytics software infrastructures (“dashboards”) in projects of ethical and industrial interest, and to join the scientific and educational initiatives of the research unit, including tutoring. Job requirements: PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics; • Data analyst with strong analytical and problem solving skills, with proven experience on scientific programming within research projects; • Experience in software and system integration tasks, including data storage technologies for big data; • Solid background in machine learning; • Technical skills enabling to work with large-scale data sets, with fluency in scripting and rapid prototyping, proven expertise in Python (numpy, scipy), C, Java, SQL; • Software development for Web platforms and website management; proven experience in MVC programming with Django framework; • Experience in version control systems and team management platforms (git, VCS); • Enthusiasm about learning new methods, computing tools & technologies; • Good knowledge of Italian and English (spoken and written) The candidate has to demonstrate ability to work both independently and in team, also with external collaborators, as well as time management, planning and organizational skills (also under pressure). Availability for short traveling to project meeting is requested. To perform this job successfully, excellent skills in public speaking are required, as well as good communication and relational skills.
